RH 5.1 just keeps trying to read supp floppy forever
i am attempting to do an SMB installation but
after putting the supp floppy in the system
tries to do something related to SCSI (this system has no SCSI
controller)
but seems to keep reading the same portion of the floppy for many hours.

i have tried another disk (though it might be a bad sector)
with the same result.

disks were made from downloaded boot.img and supp.img
and using rawrite utility on RH5.1 CD.

Am trying to install on a P60 VLB motherboard with 8M RAM
and VLB video and HD controller
ethernet controller is NE2000 compatible
no other cards installed

any suggestions appreciated

thanks

I had the same experience ... so it is not you or your setup. Hope you (we)
will get a conclusive answer :-)

I have determined the problem
it was a lack of RAM
when i add another 8M to the system the install runs fine

strange - redhat says that the min config is 8 M

oh well - i'm happy now
