 Slow OS/2 NFS client

Hello,

I had a Linux server using 2 Pentium 120MHz CPU and 2 SCSI HD.
a NE2000 compatible LAN card.
My OS/2 workstation connect to the server has very slow transfer
rate over NFS mounted drive.
I did a simple test on my LAN. When I copy a 12M file to the
NFS drive mounted under OS/2.
NFS mounted drive take 3 mins 20 sec to copy.
FTP only takes 11.66 sec to complete.
The transfer rate of ftp is much much better than NFS, but it still
very slow compare to NETBIOS connection.

Also when I copy a file which contain extend attribute from OS/2
machine to Linux. There has a message pop up "The target file system
is not support EA, EA will not be copy".
So I always lost the EA in NFS drive.... :(

Is there any parameter in NFS200.IFS to make better performance?
Anyone know how I can solve my problem ?
Thanks in advance.
Please reply me via email, my news reader always cannot read.

Use a smaller buffer size -- the default 8k causes excessive resends on
a busy net. As for EAs. use zip or tar to create an archive of the file
before sending it to the NFS drive. This will preserve the EAs when the
file is placed back on an HPFS drive. EAs are not supported on NFS
drives - it would take a VFat type hack to accomodate it and it sounds
very messy. Oddly, EAs are not even supported when both ends of the NFS
connection are OS/2 with HPFS.

I am running NFS to a Sun Ultra. While the performance of the initial
release was disma at 10-50 kbytes/s, after the latest CSD it went up
to 500 kbytes/s.

 Slow OS/2 NFS client

I'm now quite happy with the NFS client under OS/2.
This is due to I disable the BIOD and use RPC call in OS/2 NFS client.
It provide very great improvment in transfer rate.
And the problem of EAs.....I don't care if the file is not special
types linked with the application like DeScribe.
Anyway , thank you for your help. :)
