 Checking disk space usage

#du -sk directory-name
to find out how big is a directory


to check your mounted partitions.....

Linux requires alot's of reading too !!

I just installed Linux slackware on my PC and I haven't bee able to
figure out how you check the hard disk to see how much space is used
and how much is free or available.

Is there a utility, like chkdsk in DOS, that would do the same in

Read the df man page.  You might want to also read the fsck man page
(and all related man pages depending on what file system you are
