Persistent Intermittent crash while loading aic7xxx module
Can anyone tell me why this might happen?  I installed Redhat 6.0 yesterday
and for the rest of the evening every time I rebooted the system it would
get past the lilo prompt, bring up a whole lot of stuff about checking
partitions and Raid arrays and would finally wind up{*filter*} when displaying
the message:

Loading aic7xxx module

For some reason it would happen intermittently and today it gets stuck there
every time.

Can anyone tell me what the aic7xxx module is?  Do I have a piece of
hardware that is playing up?

Symon.

aic7xxxx is a SCSI driver module. I wonder if you need it (if you have an
adaptec SCSI controller and there are important hard drivers on it, you do,
otherwise not).

Persistent Intermittent crash while loading aic7xxx module

Ah!,  thanks - now I know what it refers to!  I have a SCSI controller in
the system - an Adaptec 2940 to be precise.  It's running a Panasonic 4x8 CD
Burner, so I kinda need it.

What would cause the module to hang intermittently?  Anyone know?

Symon.
