linuxconf won't let me access certain menus
I have been trying to set up samba through linuxconf on my rh6.1
machine.  Not only am I new at running linux as a server (I can deal
with my workstation), but linuxconf will not let me access the smba
options menu anymore.  In best case senerios it simply sits there, while
it often tends to hang as well.  I also noticed that several other menus
were un-usable as well.  Specifically "Access local drives" as well as
menus relating to NFS.  Could the problem be with bad settings?  I'm
more than capable of that.  This may be something simple, but like I
said, I don't have the experience.

Thanks in advance

It's more likely a corrupted file.  Edit the smb.conf file and you will
probably see some unusual characters. You can simply empty the file
except for a comment line and linuxconf will re-write the file for you.

Backup as always first, just in case.

FYI:
in the intrest of anyone else inheriting a hand-me-down machine,
my smb.conf file was missing, and therefor linuxconf would hang, do
nothing, or, as I found out this morning, crash itself.  I'm still in
the process of finding out just where samba 2.0.5 looks for the smb.conf
file, but that's a posting for the protocol groups. See the smb
discussions.
