Why changes made using xvidtune not saved?

Whenever I run X, the screen appear too much on the right side of the monitor. I
can rectify this problem by using xvidtune but I can't figure out why the
changes I made is not saved when I restart X. I even edited /etc/X11/XF86Config
file directly based on the value given by xvidtune but the settings are still
not used when X is started.

I'm using RedHat 5.0 on Intel Pentium II 266 machine.

Thanks in advance for any response/tips/etc...

Because the X server is not designed to modify its own configuration
file.

Well, perhaps you modified the wrong bit of the configuration file or
forgot to save it or something :-)

Uhhh ... I see.

I'm quite sure that I save the file coz' when I opened it again just now, my
changes were still there but not sure whether I change the right bit. Maybe you
can show me :-). Thanks in advance.
