I have no experience in squid, But our http uses it and the log files
keep growing. as I knew, we run the cron job to fresh squid process
every day, (bin/kill -USR1 `cat /local/squid/etc/squid.pid`) but it does
not reset logfile. Do I have to clear log file mamually?

Any comments will be appreciated

The command you run only rotate logfiles.
There is a specifical part of squid.conf about rotation of logfiles.
