I've been going thru the chain of disk commands trying
to see the link/relationship between them -

I have thus far:

LSPV  hdisk0
    has 70 used PPs and volgroup = rootvg

LSVG -l rootvg
    totaling up the LPs listed equals the 70 from above - ok, or coincidence
?
    HD3 has 5 LPs and 10 PPs - (mirrored disk)

LSLV hd3
    PPsize=8meg  PPs is 10 and LPs is 5  mounted on /TMP
        again, matching numbers from LSVG above - ok ? -
        what else should I notice ?

this is where I loose it -
I can't make the connection between the numbers above,
and the actual space stats from a DF
or from a DU at the /TMP node
as shown below ??

DF
    HD3 has 81,920 blks   69,584 free  (16% used)  with 1,724 iNodes (2%
used)

DU of the /TMP node
    yields 9,008 blks -

this is fairly straight forward

PP = Physical partition
LP= logical partition

a mirrored disk does, as you notice, occupy twice as much disk space as
logical space.

so if hd3 has 5 logical patrons of 8MB that would be 40 MB

40 x 2048 = 81920

(2048 = the number of 512 byte blocks in a megabyte)

Its quite old but for a large part, still valid.
