 Determining disk space usage
Hello, I need to determine how much disk space each of several users
is using on a specific file system.  Is there an easy way to do this?
We're using Digital Unix 4.0 on DEC Alphas.  Thanks in advance.
Frank.

(1) Use quotas.

(2) find / -user USER | xargs ls -skd | awk '{sum+=$1} END {print sum;}'

So long,

There's a utility in the standard accounting package 'diskusg' that will
do what you want.  Everybody keeps forgetting about the accounting
package that comes standard with almost every flavour of UNIX.

There is a command called quot, which does exactly what you want, however
it is a root user only command, since it uses raw devices.
Hope this helps
Adam
PS comp.unix.osf.osf1 is a better place for Digital unix questions.
(Compaqs Tru64 Unix used to be Dec's Tru64 Unix which used to be
Digital Unix, which used to be osf1, the newsgroup name needs changing)
