PPP using kerneld and request-route script.

Hi,

I don't have a clue why but I cannot seem to get the 'request-route' script to
start-up when I try to connect to my remote class-C network using ppp. I
already have an ethernet connection on another class-C network to the internet
but i am trying to get a demand dial link to a private network working over my
modem.

Kerneld is working fine and i've tried it on two separate setups using 1.3.78
and 1.2.8 sucessfully. But I have no luck with the dial-up bit. I'm quite sure
that the kerneld doesn't even invoke request route as I've tried it without
even trying to get it dialling up. PPP works fine on both setups and I have
installed modules-1.2.8 package and patched the 1.2.8 kernel. The request-route
script is definitely executable by root. I've ran out of ideas.

Is there a requirement maybe for the default route to be non-existant before
this whole thing works or should it work quite happily with an ethernet
connection also?

I should add that the (ethernet) network router redirects all packets meant for
my private remote network directly to this machine so they aren't escaping onto
the i'net. The routing all works fine when the ppp link is fired up manually.

 - Please help me.

Phil Lewis.
