In article <6l42g0$ss...@nnrp1.dejanews.com>,

netatalk does not yet support localtalk (only atalk over ether).  I think that
there is x86 support for the COPS localtalk card, but I seriously doubt that
will be of any help.  I think the problem is that localtalk uses the serial
port in a weird way, dunno.  I was sad when I was stuck on a localtalk
network.

Hi world,

I'm developing a LocalTalk driver for BeOS PPC : if anyone could port it
on LinuxPPC, i send him my sources.

Sounds very intresting. Maybe you could mail your sources to Paul
Mackerras <pau...@cs.anu.edu.au>. He maintains the Linux-pmac sources.

On Fri, 12 Jun 1998 09:36:27 +0100,

I am setting up a documentation of LinuxPPC on a webpage these days.
I think it would be a great idea to place the sources of file on that
page to give the users the chance to set it up.
The page is under development but I think it would be great if you
mail me your sources so that I can put em online when the page is
ready.

But the two OS are different : its a big deal to port my sources for
linux.

The Network driver architecture on Linux is designed for links that
supports TCP/IP stack. AppleTalk over LocalTalk link doesn't.
The developer who want to port my driver must know the BeOS DriverKit
and the Kernel architecture : i have not documented that on my sources.

My Driver implement the LocalTalk Link over an SCC chip (ZILOG Z8530),
and acquire the chip adress by firmware call. (The Device tree for
instance).

Paul maintain the Linux sources, but could he port a driver like mine ?

I know.

Probably, my thought was to ask him to keep your sources in safe keeping
until he himself finds the time to port your code, or somebody else
volunteers. If there is one place sources are kept is a safe place, it's
with Paul (I guess).
