Troubles installing linuxPPC on a PowerBook G3
I have troubles installing linuxPPC on my PowerBook G3/266/1MB.
I downloaded the vmlinux, ramdisk.image.gz from the
sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch FTP site. I use kernel 2.1.125 and BootX 1.0b6.
I follow all the instructions, the installer starts, I can see things
getting done but
I get the following message:

Warning: unable to open an initial console.
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

I tried to fix it in some ways with no success.
Any idea how to solve this?

Thanks.

Troubles installing linuxPPC on a PowerBook G3

I just got the same error after a clean and successful looking install.
My machine is a PowerCenter Pro without the problematic Adaptec SCSI
card.  BootX 1.0b6 w/ kernel 2.1.121,125,127, and 130. What kind of
argument does the init= option take?  I tried (read: randomly thrashed
about) using init=/sbin/init to no avail.

Any help is highly appreciated.
Eric

P.S. If anyone has the PCP up and running w/ Adaptec card, please let me
know how you managed...

As bad as it is to follow up on my own post, something of possible importance
caught my eye.

I might (might being the key word) have had the wrong root specified in bootx.
I've already started reinstalling so it's too late for me to check if that was
it... You might want to double check that.

Of course, chances are that this is a complete bogus suggestion.  Doesn't hurt
to try, though.

Good luck,
Eric
