I really need to get my TrueType fonts working on my SuSE 6.4
PPC/PowerBook G3 system. I've been all through the documentation all
around the web and cannot get xfstt to provide me with any fonts. It
recognises that there are some- it tells me it finds 12 fonts in the
truetype directory but when I start Gimp it does not see the fonts.

Can someone point me to what is going on, please?

Check /etc/X11/XF86Config for the font path defs and make sure your
truetype font path is in there (or the font server is indeed queried for
fonts). If you use Xpmac, xset fp+ might be the equivalent way of adding
a font path or server.

Thanks for this. I tried what you said but it doesn't change anything.

Do I need ttmkfdir? I haven't been able to find it for PPC and it's not
on the SuSE discs (as far as I can tell). I've done mkfontdir and the
path is in my XF86Config file.

Just a try. I don't do SuSE, and I have no experience with truetype
fonts on PPC (on Intel I've been using Corel's font server with no
config or trouble whatsoever only).
