I got to swap a Centris 650 (which I ran NetBSD/mac68k on) for a
PowerMac 6100/66 (DOS Compatible). I checked and it turned out NetBSD
doesn't support this model and the only Unix-type OS that does is MkLinux.
I tried to install it, but it locks up right at the beginning of the start-
up - fraction of a second after I press "Boot Linux" button of MkLinux
Booter. It doesn't even get to show any messages.

        Is anyone familiar with that problem or got any solutions? I couldn't
find anything on MkLinux pages.

Try to re-install the system, perhaps a minimal one [can be placed on a
zip or the like], and try again. Also, perhaps something is wrong with
your harddisk [at least, I've had this problem with two of my harddisks
resulting in having to use half the internal 4G harddisk for MkLinux
instead of an external one]. Also, have you got enough RAM ? I've got 72
M RAM with my 6100/60 DOS Compatible.

I've got it running. And I've placed MacOS 8.1 with the Linux software
on a CD-ROM. When booting from this CD-ROM [can be done by holding down
the C-key during boot, if the CD-ROM is in the original Apple CD-ROM
drive], the computer neatly boots into MkLinux.

Could you post where you got this?  I'm interested in making my
6100-class machine run MkLinux and I thought the DR3 referred to on
mklinux.org was the latest.

The documentation on www.mklinux.org often points to URLs at
ftp.mklinux.apple.com, a hostname I can't resolve.  Is there a place I
could *purchase* the latest MkLinux on CD-ROM (preferably containing
everything I need to get MkLinux up and running on my 6116CD)?

There's no such site that I'm aware of. Try:

ftp://ftp.mklinux.org/pub/mklinux-pre-R1

Or you could just wait a few weeks for the official R1 to ship. Its not quite
done yet.
