 Installing LinuxPPC on PowerBook G3

I'm contemplating an install of Linux PPC on my PowerBook G3 300
(Wallstreet).

I've downloaded the installation files, and I'd like to burn them on a
CD (my internal HD is formatted to HFS+, so I can't install LinuxPPC
from there anyway). Is there a particular format I should burn the CD
with? What files should be burned? I've downloaded the entire LinuxPPC
R5 final package (around 500 MB) and put it on a separate disk image.

I also thought that I'd buy myself an external SCSI HD (around 2 GB) and
install it there to avoid problems and the risks to my HD (my dad
installed LinuxPPC on his PB G3 original series, and managed to get his
entire HD corrupted). Is there anything particular that I should keep in
mind when doing so?

 Installing LinuxPPC on PowerBook G3

Everything in RedHat/RPMS and RedHat/base

This is somewhere in the manual, NDLR.

I used mkhybrid on PC to make an HFS/ISO9660 hybrid filename. You want
to make sure that the filenames aren't going to be too messed up. I've
had linux running on the internal HD of my Powerbook G3 (WS II) w/o any
problem so far. Just be *VERY* cautious when you partition your HD. If
you have a DVD, then it might support CDRw (mine does) so you can try
some options in mkhybrid w/o messing up your installation (look at it in MacOS).

 Installing LinuxPPC on PowerBook G3
In article <37D68878.6B75C...@ces.clemson.edu> ,

MacOS).

I have installed YDL on my 400 Lombard using an external SCSI HD (4.3 GB). I
made a 500 MB HFS Partition for Mac/linux files, and left the remaining for
Linux. This way the internal HD is left intouched by Linux (It is HFS+). If
I need to get something to Linux from the Mac side I copy it to that small
HFS Partition and restart with Linux. No major Problems so far. Your milage
may vary.
