LinuxPPC 2000 Q4, G3 Beige DT, HD Drivers?
Hi, everyone.
I'm trying to install LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 on my PowerMac G3 Beige DT, but still
no luck.
In the past I installed LinuxPPC 1999 R3 without (big) problems.
But now:
1) Can't boot from original LinuxPPC 2000 CD (boot with 'c' key pressed
doesn't work).
2) If I use BootX (1.2b3) from the CD (to boot from its ramdisk image...),
sometimes works, other not. WHY?
3) If I use BootX from my startup HD (like I usually did), after selecting
"Linux" it doesn't works. If I try to reboot on MacOS, during extension load
at a certain point it crashes, with an error concerning the Energy Savings
extension (and Energy Savings settings are disabled)!?!? The only way to
exit from this situation is to ZAP the PRAM!!!
4) Since I'd like to install LinucPPC on HD with a Intech's HD Speedtools
driver (v.3.2.1), does anyone know if there is any problem with this? The
few times I managed to boot from ramdisk, IT SEEMS that the XInstaller
worked (copied the rpm files...), but I never managed to boot from Linux
(strange errors during boot process --> stop). Plus, returning on MacOS
side, the MacOS HFS partition (which I didn't touch during Linux
installation...) on the same disk as /root and /swap disappeared. This lead
me to think about drivers incompatibility...
Any clues?
Does anyone with a similar H/W S/W configuration manage to install LinuxPPC
2000?
Thanks to anyone in advance.
