about to give up on MOL
I never got it to work with 2.2.pre-15, not it won't even allow me to
patch the kernel with 2.2.18.  I have the very latest version of mol.

You might consider telling us what you've tried, and what results

to help you with it given only the above. I've had no trouble with
2.2.15.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... i beleive to run MOL on LinuxPPC you have to boot
up using the MOL kernel (vmlinux_mol). Its on the install CD. that may be
why it complains about the kernel everytime u try to start it. It gives me
the same message when i try to run 'startmol' when i'm using the standard
kernel.

Rich,

You can ignore all my previous posts on the topic and all the problems I've had
at different stages because I'm back to square 1 with Q4 and the new
kernel. Here is where I stand now:

Did you cd to /boot (or wherever your kernel and sysmap resides) before
trying these commands?

It works fine for me on pre-15.
What are the symptoms?

- what happens after you type 'startmol'? If it exists after a few
lines of output, you may have forgotten to start from root the first
time, so 'startmol' can patch the kernel.
- If it does not exit, does it put up an X-window or switch to another
console? Etc. tell us how far you got. Very likely someone recognizes
the symptoms. Eduard.

Rich,

I had a bad System.map.  I let MOL make one. I can now get the mac os to start to boot before
it complaines about "system map inconsistant" from within the mac os.

PS.  I posted details in another thread
