 Java on LinuxPPC

If you are looking to develop JAVA apps through LinuxPPC, I suggest you read
the documentation here:

http://khendricks.ivey.uwo.ca/linuxppc/jdk/

LinuxPPC is now fully supporting the 1.2 and 1.1.8 versions of the JDK for
linux, and there are readmes-a-plenty on that site, to help you install the
JDK, native thread software, and even a JDE.

It works for me fine, running YellowDog 1.1...

I have a full Java application server environment on LinuxPPC using all
open-source products. I recommend 1.1.8 since a lot of the JSDK code works
better under that.

If you're interested in Java app servers you might want to explore:

- Apache Jserv
- GNU JSP 0.99 (free, runs fine under Linux/Apache)
- Postgres SQL (free, includes JDBC and ODBC drivers)
- DbConnectionBroker (free, DB connection pool using JDBC)

This all runs fine on LinuxPPC a Powerbook G3.
