 Newbie with TCP Wrapper
Greetings,

I am trying to set up TCP Wrappers, with the end goal being to allow a
few dial-up users to be able to telnet in to our server, but disallow
any other logins. We'll also want all users to be able to ftp into their
home directories. I have figured out how to set up to deny all logins,
and how to allow some domains/hosts. Is it even possible to configure it
down to the user level or not, in that fashion. We dynamically assign
IP's, so I won't be able to do it by specific network address. Any
advice or information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,

Rob Wright

Since the IPs are dynamically assigned there is no safe way for
tcpd to find out who is using the IP address, and so no way it can
deny the connection. One might say that's what usernames and
passwords were for ;-)

OTOH, if you can arange for trusted users to come in on one pool
of IPs and untrusted on another pool then you stand some chance of
using tcpd.

Thanks. That's what I thought, I just wanted some outside confirmation.
I appreciate the help.
