 spamming and sendmail.
Don't know if this is the place to ask this question?

Using the linuxConf in X, how do I configure sendmail so that my
internal users can send mail out thru my linux box but not allow people
on the outside from doing the same?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sendmail 8.9.x does this by default, all you need is an entry in
/etc/mail/relay-domain with the domain portion of the internal IP range (say
10 for the 10.x.x.x reserved A class)

I've seen that solution, but in my company's case was provide email hosting.
People from home check their work email so I can't tell what IP's they'll be
coming from... I haven't found anything otherwise, but is there some sort of
relay authorization by username/id as opposed to IP range?

The people at home presumably have an ISP (else the really long ethernet
cable they have would still be on a private subnet ;) in which case they
presumably have an SMTP server at this ISP. So... they receive mail from
your server and send it thru another. What's the problem?

BTW, advertising here that your mail server is open to relaying probably
isn't the wisest thing you could do...
