:newest version.  I bought the CD from compaq because I thought my floppy
:drive was bad.  When I try running the CD with boot dka400 it makes it way
:to jumping to boot strap code and that is all it does.  I have had the same
:problem with the FreeBSD boot disk, NetBSD and OpenBSD boot disks.  The only
:boot disks that seem to work are the RedHat Linux boot disks.  Any help

  This could be anything from a hardware problem to a faulty CD-ROM
  drive to problems with the SCSI device chain -- there's not a whole
  lot here to go on.

  You'll need to describe the SCSI chain in detail as a start...
  Particularly, what is the particular CD-ROM drive in use and is it
  capable of 512 byte block transfers?

  Which firmware distribution do you have?

  What firmware version do you currently have loaded?

  Have you tried the failsafe loader?

  AlphaBIOS or SRM console?  What is the boot command you are using?

  I'll assume you have the jumper set to enable firmware updates...

  You'll need to check with somebody more familiar with the operating
  systems you are looking to use for help with problems...
