If the format actually starts, chances are the partitioning is OK.
You probably *want* more RAM, but it's doubtful that 48M is the cause
of this particular problem.
I'm not saying you're wrong, just raising the question:
Are you absolutely sure it's hung ?
How long did you wait ?
Remember this *is* a 266Mhz CPU, Not a 2Ghz P4.
I had an XL266 die on me a few months ago. Prior to its death, it had
RH7.1 installed on it (a few times). As I remember the format seemed
to take forever, (it was much larger than a 1G drive though). I went
to bed after a couple of hours assuming it had locked up, but to my
surprise, in the morning it had completed.
