RedHat 5.1 and AlphaServer 1000 4/200 troubles
Ok, as the subject says I have an AlphaServer 1000 4/200 that
I'm having trouble getting RH 5.1 installed on. I tried using MILO,
but the kernel would crash during loading with a "device interrupt:
unexpexted" error. I checked the archives of this group on DejaNews,
and found that some people had some success booting directly from the
SRM console. I tried this, and it works for booting the initial
mikasa-s kernel. However, using the CD as a root disk fails, and every
floopy ramdisk I've tried gives the same error : EXT-2
filesystem...checktime reached, try e2fsck. After this the systems
freezes until I escape out to the SRM console using the button on the
front of the box. Any ideas on how to get around this? I've tried
several floppies, using both the ramdisk.img on the cd, and one (for
5.2) downloaded from ftp.digital.com. I've also tried various boot
lines from the SRM console, listed below:
boot dka400 -file kernels/mikasa-s.gz -flags "root=/dev/fd0 \
load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1"
boot dka400 -file kernels/mikasa-s.gz -flags "root=/dev/fd0h1440 \
load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1"
boot dva0 -file vmlinux.gz -flags "root=/dev/fd0 \
load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1"
boot dva0 -file vmlinux.gz -flags "root=/dev/fd0h1440 \
load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1"
Thanks for any help
