ulimit in hp-ux: how to increase?
Our database server works on HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00 platforms (of course,
server process runs under non-root account).
Here problem begins. Due to ULIMIT value (maximum size of file to
write), it can't open file of >2Gb size for write.
In standard kernel source directory (/usr/conf/master.d) I see no file
containing this parameter.
Database schema doesn't allow me to split large file to smaller (it
could be the easiest way).
So if you know about increasing ulimit value for non-root processes,
please answer.

Ivan.

The problem is more complicated than changing the value returned by
"ulimit(2)".  Please consult HP's "white paper" on large-file
support, which was delivered in your "/usr/share/doc" directory.
At a minimum, you will need to re-compile your application code
with some special options, then (probably) re-build the file-system
volume on which you want to create >2 GB files in order to mark the
file-system's "meta data" to indicate that this is OK.  Other
customer-supplied applications beside your server, which manipulate
such files, might have to be "smartened up", too.

Files bigger than 2GByte involve more than this. For details, see the
lg_files.* documents in /usr/share/doc.

use fsadm to change the filesystem attributes to "largefiles"
make sure that the shell supports files larger then 2GB (tcsh does not).
