What modem/sound card to buy for Solaris on x86?
What modem/sound card should I buy for Solaris 9 on Intel x86?
Does it has to have driver for Solaris 9 or some
generic driver included in Solaris 9 system will do?

Thanks in advance
Robert

All I can say is, be sure not to get a "winmodem" because it won't work.

The only modems I've ever got working with Solaris were external, fully
Hayes compatible models.

(I have no helpful suggestions at all for a sound card.)

For the modem, I would suggest an external modem driven via
a serial port.

The asy(7D) driver can also drive an internal ISA-bus card
modem with a 16550A compatible UART interface, sometimes
called a controller based modem.

Definately.  There is nothing more irritating then having to cold boot
your system in order to reset the (internal) modem.  That goes for ANY
OS you happen to be using.
