Drives show up twice in a V880
I've got a SunFire V880 with twelve drives, but when I install Solaris
it shows me twenty-four drives.  The controller numbers are different,
so I think what's happening is that the system has two controllers that
are supposed to act as one (for fault tolerance or hot-swappability I
guess) but they aren't.  The bad thing is that Solaris will let me
format, partition, and install on all twenty-four drives -- which
doesn't work very well, since files get overwritten when the installer
unknowingly uses the same drive twice.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

You want to enable I/O multipathing.
Go to /kernel/drv and edit the scsi_vhci.conf file.
mpxio-disable="no"
You may also want to set
auto-failback="enable"

Then
reboot  -- -r

When the system comes up you'll only have 12 drives.

You can use the luxadm command to look at and manage the two ports.
