Shrinking Veritas QIO files for Oracle backups or migrating QIO files to reg files
Hi, we are using Veritas HA for Oracle and in order to permantently
backup our databases I would like to shrink QIO files before backing
them up. Unfortunately Veritas wasn't able to provide me with an
adequate answer, so I am looking for an advice how to do it.

Migrating QIO files to regular files would probably be the simplest
way, but I don't know whether it is doable or not.

Please let me know if you have experienced a similar problem.

Thank you.

Shrinking Veritas QIO files for Oracle backups or migrating QIO files to reg files

Hi, my name is Bob.  This does not answer your question, but are you
happy with Veitas?  Have you had any trouble with it?  How is there
tech support?  What kind of problem are you having with the QIO files
and what are they?

The reason I am asking is I am evaluating Veitas to replace Legato.
Although Legato has been very stable on the Unix side, the NT side
SUCKS to put it bluntly.  We have had nothing but troubles with them
and I have not been able to accomplish a complete database backup on
the NT servers in 6 weeks.   My SA has more expertise with their
software then their tech support does.   So I am looking for solutions
to this problem.

Any help or answers you can provide would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
bob
