 HELP: "volcheck" doesn't work

--Dear Solaris Experts:

Could someone help me on this problem?

We have a Sparc 5 running Solaris 2.4 in our research group. The error
message "/dev/volctl: No such device or address" is displayed on the
CONSOLE all the time, so we can't use volcheck to access floppy disks,
and the option "Check For Floppy" in File Manager doesn't work either.

When I checked "/dev/volctl", nothing seemed wrong to me, the file is
there without being changed. By the way, everything did work before.
I don't even know when this problem happened.

  Thank you.

 HELP: "volcheck" doesn't work

In article <>, (Meng Lu) writes:

Well, You first should try if Your floppy-drive still works,
this can be done by "dd"ing onto /dev/fd0 (or whatever You call it).
If Your floppy is o.k., check out Your entry in /etc/vold.conf, as
all Your removable filesystems should be listed there. If that
still doesn't work, You should try to mount that floppy manually,
and then rerun volcheck.

Hope this'll help
