 graphics and media on Linux
I am looking into creating an embedded device that is capable of displaying
2d graphics (similar to what you see on TiVo), as well as play video/audio
from an analog input.

I have done this work on Windows machines through the help of DirectX
(DirectShow & Direct3D). I am familar with the SDL cross platform library
that runs on Linux. I have a couple of questions:

1) If you have used the SDL library, how is the performace? Is it a powerful
library (thorough/complete API?)

2) For comparison purposes, are there any other libraries I can look it?

Thank you in advance.
