I own an ATAPI CD-RW - Plextor Plexwriter 8/4/32A.  Are there any owners of
this cd burner that have gotten it to work under FreeBSD?  Are there any
websites where I can get this type of information?

My problem is this:  My scanner is not supported in Linux, but my CD-RW is.
However, as I've heard, some people say that FreeBSD doesn't like ATAPI /
IDE cd-rw drives.  The scanner driver I planned to use in FreeBSD is
uscanner - my two options are to either compile the source for linux, or
find a way to get my cd-rw to work in FreeBSD.  I would much rather use
FreeBSD.  Thanks.

Mine is a Plexwriter 12/10/32A and it works like a charm under
FreeBSD... But, as ATAPI drive, you cannot use the well known cdrecord
nor its gui interfaces. burncd runs well but it lacks GUI support (imho).

You don't have this problem with Linux as it use a SCSI emulation
layer, so all SCSI software will works with your ATAPI burner.
