 FreeBSD behind Win2k LAN
I have FreeBSD installed behind Win2k that has the typical cnnection sharing
turned on. My problem is that I can't seem to ping anything outside of the
FreeBSD boxat all. I can ping 127.0.0.1 and my IP address of 192.168.0.105.

ifconfig says it's "UP" and active. Here is mt Network Config:

defaultrouter: 192.168.0.1 (Win2k nic card)
ip: 192.168.0.1
mask: 255.255.255.0
ipv4 gateway: 192.168.0.1

Any ideas??

Please reply via email too

Thanks,

Rob

 FreeBSD behind Win2k LAN
Robert,

Is the IP of the Win2k machine AND the FreeBSD machine 192.168.0.1? If
so, that's probably your problem right there. If the gateway is set to
192.168.0.1, and your local interface is set to 192.168.0.1, then you're
trying to use yourself as the gateway. Try making the FreeBSD machine
192.168.0.10 or something in the /24 range. Also, is there any particular
reason you're using Win2k as the gateway? You know, FreeBSD+ipfilter+ipnat
makes one hell of a gateway. Stability, security, and reliability. Not to
say that Win2k doesn't have all of that of course. *grin*

    Regards,

Kris
