 Installing KDE 2.1
If your FreeBSD machine has internet connectivity.

Insert your cd but do not mount it. "/stand/sysinstall will not find the cd
media if it is mounted"

using /stand/sysinstall install the ports distribution if not installed. If
you have a /usr/ports directory with a lot of subdirectories then it is
installed. Also install cvsup-bin from the packages.
look for and copy /usr/share/examples/cvsup/ports-supfiles to your root dir.
edit /root/ports-supfile and change it to point to a real cvsup server such
as

*default host=cvsup2.FreeBSD.org

run cvsup -g -L 2 /root/ports-supfiles.after it finishes.
cd /usr/ports/x11/kde2 and run "make install" It will get and do everything
needed.
To use your kde files just place them in /ust/ports/distfiles if they are out
of date it will get new ones or tell you which ones it is missing.

Looks like you just did what I just did -- accidentally loaded up some old
articles and responded to one almost a month old!

Gotta watch those dates....
