freebsd 2.2.2 (or RedHat linux) on compaq aero with shuttle

Or installing via ethernet.  Is the screen device supported?  I've
got an otherwise useless Aero that would make a great portable unix
box if it will work with FreeBSD or any of the other free unices.

There is a little problem: I started with the boot disk and got it up.
But I didn't get the right moment to put the pcmcia floppy out and my
pcmcia ethernet in. Maybe freebsd doesn't like my pcmcia ethernet? I
don't know if it runs. Therefor I wanted to contact the external
parallel port cdrom to install freebsd, but freebsd didn't like this
thing.

You can also install via SLIP/PPP if you cannot use ethernet.
