E-mail front end for Linux: Z-Mail
Hello,

I'm not sure if that was reported before, since I don't read News
on regular basis, but I've seen recently some post about any good,
gui based e-mail readers for Linux. I'd like to add that Linux users
can use Z-Mail Motif version for SCO under iBCS emulator mode.
It works flawlessly on my Linux box (1.2.8 kernel) and it is a realy
excellent product (voted by PC Mag as an editors choice). I just
only wish there will be a native Linux version of that program
(not because the SCO version doesn't work properly, but for the
Linux sake). I did send some e-mail to z-code about possible port
but had not got any answer yet.

Well, you can do it yourself, the address is:

        http://www.**-**.com/

Obtain the copy of Z-Mail 3.2.1 Motif for SCO, then email
k...@z-code.com for the activation key (they will give you
for 30 days initially) or call 415-898-8649.

Let them know that you wanted to see native Linux version
being ported soon.

Regards,

-Pawel

release, though.  Regard http://www.ee.msstate.edu/~simmons/oak.html

Hi Pawel,
Sounds good, but my browser doesn't find www.z-code.com.
Are you sure that you have the correct address??

And then there's xmail.  The latest I'm aware of is v1.6.  It ought to be
available on sunsite, although I'm not certain of that.  Contact Jeff Markham
(mark...@cadence.com) for more info...

Xmail looks quite a bit like xmailtool from the old sunview days.  It
works much better, of course.

I use Zmail on the SUn as well, and I love it; currently it's our corporate
standard mailer.  I used it on Linux by grabbing the SCO binary and compiling
the iBCS module.  It works and looks just the same.  Call the number in the
install instructions to get a 30-day demo license.  Unfortunately, my Sun
Z-mail license doesn't apply to my Linux Z-mail, so I don't get a free ride. =)
Is NCD making a version that is specifically for Linux to make getting it
easier?
