Seagate Barracuda IV Drives and Software RAID?
Hello,

I'm building a new machine for RH 7.3 and was wanting to install 2
Seagate IDE 40GB Barracuda IV 7200RPM drives in a RAID 1 setup. I am
reading that these drives have a hard time with RAID due to some
factory defaults. These reports have dealt with hardware RAID:
http://www.**-**.com/

What I'm wondering is if this applies to software RAID as well.
Cheers!
Dave

I shouldn't use software rate at all. It's an option, but hardware RAID is
much better. And for IDE the price is acceptable.

Above URL talks about Seagate disk and Promise RAID card.  Then, this is
RAID card's problem.  Software RAID shouldn't be affected at all.

I ended up talking to the people at Seagate and the person I connected
with said that it would be a proble. He could be wrong? Anyhow, I've
decided to go with a couple of other drives.

Thanks!
