How to determine running window manager
Can any body tell me any ways to get access to the X window manager in C
I would like to determine which window manager is running on my system

Of course solutions like ps -ef | egrep 'wm|after|kde|windowm' will not
fullfill the kind of things I want to do

Anything with the Atom properties of the root window ???

Thanks

There is no reliable method, although Xm gives one function that determines
whether mwm is running. Note that even if you do know what window manager
is running, the user can change window managers at any time.
