 "mail" doesn't work

Hello,

mail or mailx command doesn't work on our system. Doesn't give any error
when we execute it. But the other person doesn't receive the mail. What
could be the problem?

Here is what I did

$echo "Test Mail" | mail tsmith
$echo "Test Mail" | mailx -s "Test Subject" tsmith

User tsmith doesn't get the mail.

Would doubly appreciate if you could reply to

Thanks in advance,

As a first step, put a -v in the command:

        $echo "Test Mail" | mail -v tsmith

and see if that helps explain anything.

I've halved follow-ups.
